The Department of Engineering Graphics and Computer Modeling (former name of the Department "Descriptive Geometry and Graphics") was formed in 1930 by Professor Aleksandr I. Dobryakov. The Department has always been engaged in the development of programs in graphic disciplines for construction specialties of universities in Russia. As a result, it has been the leading department among the educational and methodological association of universities of the Russian Federation in the field of Civil Engineering.

The department conducts training for students of all fields of full-time and part-time education in the following disciplines:

• Engineering and Computer Graphics

• Descriptive Geometry;

• Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Graphics;

• Descriptive Geometry, Engineering and Computer Graphics;

• Fundamentals of Information Modeling Technologies.

Academic staff of the Department actively works with high school students of Moscow.

Research work is actively conducted. The Department pays significant attention to publishing new textbooks, teaching guides and introducing information technologies.

Today 8 Associate professors, 5 senior lecturers and 9 teachers work at the Department. Academic staff together with students conduct scientific research of visual models based on computer technology and engineering geometrography. The team of students annually participates in the Moscow and All-Russian Student Olympiads in Descriptive Geometry, Engineering and Computer Graphics and takes prizes.
