Thermal and nuclear power plants construction is one of the most interesting and promising areas of construction activity. The combination of modern building technologies with breakthrough inventions in the field of thermal and nuclear energy makes it possible to apply innovative ideas in creating unique industrial facilities. The uniqueness of the designed and constructed structures, their reliability, proven over decades, the scale and manufacturability require serious scientific and industrial training of specialists in this field.
The Department of Thermal and Nuclear Power Plants Construction offers Bachelor’s, Specialist’s and Master’s degree and postgraduate programs and provides comprehensive training of engineers and technically qualified specialists.
Since 2014 the teaching staff of the Department has provided targeted training of bachelors for enterprises of State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom (ROSATOM). It takes active part in retraining and advanced training of employees of the nuclear industrial complex.
Over the years the Department of Thermal and Nuclear Power Plants Construction has successfully interacted with a number of higher educational institutions in Europe. The most developed cooperation is with the Technical University of Berlin. Teachers and employees of the Department have published many thematic textbooks and guidelines, published including abroad.
Scientific research of teachers, employees and graduate students of the Department is aimed at solving the whole range of fundamental and applied tasks in the field of construction of nuclear facilities. Dozens of candidate and doctoral theses were successfully defended at the Department.
The Research and Advanced Development results were implemented at nuclear power facilities in Russia and abroad, at research centers and in production, at civil engineering facilities, at charged particle accelerators of Dubna, Protvino, Troitsk and others, as well as at the nuclear power plants in the USSR, Russia, Hungary, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Cuba, China, India, Belarus, etc.
Teaching, production and scientific activities of employees and graduates of the Department have been awarded with Government and State prizes, honorary and academic titles.
