The Department of Information Systems, Technologies and Automation in Construction is a comprehensive Department which combines the scientific and educational potential of the Department of Automated Control Systems (since 1971) and the Department of Design Automation Systems in Construction (since 1985).
Department of Automated Control Systems was formed in 1971 to train specialists in the field of automation of organization and management in construction. D.Eng.Sc., Professor Roman V. Krupenchenko was appointed the first Head of the Department, and he held this position till 1976. In 1976 - 1982 the Department was headed by D.Eng.Sc., Professor Anatoliy I. Smirnov. D.Eng.Sc., Professor Vyacheslav V. Pozdnyakov headed the Department in 1982 – 1995. In 1995, Ph.D. in Eng.Sc., Associate Professor Svetlana N. Petrova became the Head of the Department. In 1994, the Department was renamed into the Department of Information Systems, Technologies and Management in Construction.
Department of Design Automation Systems in Construction was formed in 1985 to train specialists in the field of design automation systems in construction. Its creator and the first Head was D.Eng.Sc., Professor Aleksandr A. Gusakov. In 1991-1992, the Department was headed by D.Eng.Sc., Professor Vitaliy O. Chulkov (academician of the International Academy of Informatization). In 1992, D.Eng.Sc., Professor Valentina S. Noginskaya became the Head of the Department; in 1996 D.Eng.Sc., Professor Vyacheslav F. Yakovlev was appointed the Head of the Department; in 2001, Ph.D. in Eng.Sc., Associate Professor Nikolay A. Garyaev took this position.
In 2010, it was decided to merge two departments focused on solving automation tasks of the construction industry. D.Eng.Sc. Professor Andrey A. Volkov became the Head of the joint Department. Svetlana N. Petrova and Nikolay A. Garyaev, as Deputy Heads, headed the relevant profiles of training specialists. From 2013 to 2016, the Department included the Department of Automation of Engineering and Construction Technologies, headed by the Ph.D. in Eng.Sc., Associate Professor Igor I. Goryunov.
In 2015, MGSU graduate, D.Eng.Sc., Professor Aleksandr V. Ginzburg was appointed the Head of the Department.
The Department unites a friendly team of like-minded people - leading industry experts in the field of information technology, automation and management. Today, the Department preserves its half-century history and traditions of training specialists in one of the most priority and popular fields of the country's economy.
