The main purpose of the Department`s research work is development of scientific and educational-methodical literature in the field of graphic disciplines. Goals and objectives of the Department`s scientific work are determined by the following priority areas of research:
- study of visual models, based on computer technologies;
- methodology and technique of computerization of educational disciplines of engineering geometry;
- research of methods of formation in architecture and design, based on projective multi-core systems;
- study of complex configurations, based on Desargues configuration.
According to the research results, 62 scientific articles have been published in journals, recommended by the Higher attestation commission, 18 articles have been published in SCOPUS journals, and 3 monographs have been released for the last 5 years. Staff of the Department have participated in more than 50 international and all-Russian conferences.
Much attention is paid to the publication of educational literature.
5 textbooks, 16 training manuals and 12 educational-methodical instructions have been published for the last 5 years.
The Department`s research activity also includes work with those students, who are really interested in conducting researches (3 scientific student circles are organized at the Department). According to the research results, students publish their articles and make scientific reports both inside the University and beyond it. Under the guidance of lecturers, students participate in city and federal competitions in descriptive geometry, engineering and computer graphics every year, and they always win prizes.
Annually, a team of students, prepared by the Department`s lecturers, actively takes part in scientific competitions of different levels in descriptive geometry, engineering and computer graphics, and they always achieve good results.
