On October 11, 2019, a seminar "Geological problems of the technogenic stage of the history of the Earth" was held at the MGSU. It was conducted by the Department of Engineering Survey and Geo-ecology of the University.

The seminar was opened by the supervisor of the Institute of Geoecology named after E.M. Sergeeva Russian Academy of Science, Academician of the Russian Academy of Science Victor Osipov and Andrei Lavrusevich, Head of the Department of Engineering Surveys and Geoecology, MGSU.

Viktor Osipov, in his opening remarks, gave a general assessment of the state of the environmental situation in Russia and abroad. He emphasized the importance and relevance of the problems raised in the relationship between human technology and the environment armed with technology.

The seminar aroused great interest not only at the MGSU, but also in other higher educational institutions and industry research institutes.

Speakers from the Institute of Physics of the Earth named after O.Y. Schmidt of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Geoecology named after E.M. Sergeev Russian Academy of Science, All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Mineral Raw Materials named after N.M. Fedorovsky, Center for Seismic Data Analysis, Moscow State University, etc.

Among Moscow universities, the reports of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Russian State Geological Exploration University named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze, Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography.

Representatives of higher educational institutions from other cities of Russia came to participate in the in-person part of the seminar: Samara State Technical University, North Caucasus Federal University, St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering and many others.

In total, the seminar, which was full-time and part-time in nature, was attended by more than 120 people from 29 higher educational institutions and industry research institutes in Russia and abroad.

The list of issues discussed at the seminar turned out to be wide, from ecological global studies to engineering-geological factors of architectural design.

The first report on environmental globalism and sustainable development was made by Professor, Doctor of Biological Sciences, academician of the "International Academy of Ecology, Human Security and Nature Sciences" Antonina Suzdaleva, leading teacher of the department in the areas of ecology and geo-ecology.

Of great interest was the report of a team of authors from MGSU and "Institute of Geology of Ore Deposits, Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry of Russian Academy of Science", devoted to geo-ecological risks due to the disposal of toxic chemical and radioactive waste at Kolomenskoe sites in Moscow and the possibility of rehabilitation of territories.

The seminar participants showed great interest in the report made by Elena Ozhogina from the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Mineral Raw Materials named after N.M. Fedorovsky on the topic "Assessment of the possibility of recycling mining waste." According to the representatives of this organization, the Federal State Budgetary Institution "All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Mineral Raw Materials" receives more and more orders from the construction industry. Therefore, the interest of his scientists in cooperation with a leading domestic construction university is sustainable and long-term.
