50 years of cooperation

On November 1, 2019, MGSU launched special events, marking the 50th anniversary of cooperation with Technische Universität Berlin.

The event, held in the Academic Council Hall, was attended by Andrey Volkov, Acting Rector, MGSU, Valery Telichenko, President, MGSU, Elena Gogina, Vice-Rector, and Natalia Samotesova, Head of Department for Coordination of International Cooperation. Prof. Dr. Hans-Ulrich Heiß, Vice-President, Technische Universität Berlin, Michael Dobis, Head, Department of Economic Affairs and Research at the German Embassy in Moscow, Dr. Andreas Hoeschen, Director, DAAD/DWIH in Moscow, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Huhnt and prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Barjenbruch represented the Federal Republic of Germany.

The event was organized by Department for Coordination of International Cooperation.

The attendees spoke about the importance of the cooperation between the two leading universities. According to Elena Gogina, Vice-Rector, MGSU, this cooperation is in the process of development mainly in the area of water supply and discharge and also in the area of BIM technologies, although the areas, covered by the cooperation efforts, multiply.

Michael Dobis, Head, Department of Economic Affairs and Research at the German Embassy in Moscow, and Dr. Andreas Hoeschen, Director, DAAD/DWIH in Moscow, also stated that the academic mobility programme boosted the cooperation between our universities. A substantial number of students and lecturers from both countries have studied the advanced experience accumulated by their colleagues.

After the event held in the Academic Council Hall, the guests took a tour of the university centres for research and education and attended the seminar on problems of Lake Baikal. Professor Evgeniy Pupyrev, Department of Hydraulics and Hydraulic Engineering, Associate Professor Nikolay Makisha, Department of Water Supply and Disposal, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Barjenbruch, TU Berlin, and professor Mikhail Tolstoi, Director, Department of Engineering Networks and Life Support Systems, Irkutsk National Research Technical University, delivered interesting and informative reports at the seminar.

The first cooperation document was signed by the universities on May 10, 1969 in Moscow byNikolay Strelchuk, Rector, Moscow Institute of Civil Engineering, and Prof. Hans Wever, President, TU Berlin.
