The Delegation of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers and Hydroprojet Joint Stock Company Visits NRU MGSU

On July 16, 2018, the delegation of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, chaired by Uktam Pardayevich Umurzakov, Rector, and Alikbek Ilkhomovich Akhmedov, Director, Leading Design and Survey Institute JSC “Hydroproject”, visited NRU MGSU. The delegation included Saveliy Chen-Zhonovich Pak, Deputy Director, JSC “Hydroproject”, Bakhodir Amanovich Ilkhamdhzanov, Chief Specialist, JSC “Hydroproject”, and Abdukhakim Temirovich Salokhitdinov, Director, Department of Multipurpose Use of Water Resources, and Advisor to the rector of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers.

On behalf of NRU MGSU, the meeting was attended by Andrey Anatolyevich Volkov, Rector, Mikhail Evgenyevich Leibman, Vice-Rector, Nikolai Alekseevich Aniskin, Director, Institute of Hydro-technical and Energy Sector Construction, Natalia Vladimirovna Samotesova, Head of Department for Coordination of International Cooperation, Irina Mikhailovna Markova, Associate Professor, Department of Hydraulics and Hydro-technical Construction, and Kristina Yuryevna Okhotnikova, Head of Department of Development and Organization of International Cooperation.

Andrey Anatolyevich Volkov briefed the foreign guests about the university, its history and prospects, as well as its advanced laboratories and scholar schools. He also made a pointed reference to the fact that NRU MGSU was not only the leading civil engineering university, but also a “full cycle” institution of higher education.

In his turn, the rector of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers spoke about the history of his institute. He emphasized the fact that the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers was the largest institute of this type in Central Asia, and that Russian specialists made a substantial contribution into its incorporation and development.

Presently, the Institute needs to restore its former academic ties, particularly, in the future-leaning areas of civil engineering research. According to the rector of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, these include BIM technologies, as well as design and construction of hydraulic engineering structures. Presently, specialists from Uzbekistan face the problem of expanding the capacities of hydraulic engineering structures. They need to restructure the hydraulic power plants that are in operation and to construct the new ones.

The R&D support of design and construction processes, physical and computational modeling, cooperation in the area of professional training, continuing education and professional development were also discussed at the meeting.

The parties also discussed the incorporation of a joint department at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, development and implementation of joint educational programmes designated for bachelors, masters and postgraduates, as well as the issue of delegating NRU MGSU lecturers to Tashkent to deliver a course of lectures and to participate in grant programmes and projects.

After the meeting, the guests took a tour of the University and visited its laboratories.

The visit made by the Uzbek specialists serves as a proof of integrative processes underway in research, education and real economies of the CIS constituent states; it may turn into the basis for successful cooperation in the future.
