The celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of Cooperation between NRU MGSU and Bauhaus University Weimar.

On October 05 – 06, 2017, the 50th anniversary of cooperation between NRU MGSU and Bauhaus University Weimar (Germany) was celebrated.

The delegation headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Winfried Speitkamp represented Bauhaus University Weimar. The German delegation comprised the representatives of the University’s civil engineering faculty, including Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans-Joachim Bargstädt, Director of the Chair of Construction Engineering and Management; Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Plank-Wiedenbeck, Director of the Chair for the Planning of Transportation Systems; Marina Glaser, Internationalization Strategy Specialist; Raimo Harder, member of the Chair for the Planning of Transportation Systems; Prof. Dr.-Ing Dmitrii Legatiuk, Prof. Dr.-Ing Hans-Bertram Fischer, member of the Chair of Construction Materials; Prof. Dr.-Ing Kay Smarsly, Director of the Chair for Computing in Civil Engineering; Dr.-Ing Heiko Eckhardt Kirschke, member of the Chair for Computing in Civil Engineering. Numerous guests attended this special event, hosted by NRU MGSU, including Dr Peter Hiller, Director of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Regional Office in Moscow; representatives of DWIH/DAAD in Moscow; Dr. Wilma Rethage, Director, DFG Office Russia; Guzel Shaikhullina, Director, Thuringia International contact bureau, German Economy Information Centre of the Russian-German Chamber of Foreign Trade; Marina Pimenova, personal assistant, Department of Science and Academic Research, Embassy of Germany in Moscow, Russia.

The anniversary celebration was initiated on October 05, 2017 by an exhibition of graduate projects and qualification works, completed by the students of NRU MGSU in the following integrated areas of cooperation:

- Infrastructure and environmental protection;

- Concretes, gypsum construction materials;

- Information technologies in civil engineering;

- Architecture and urban planning;

Structural and theoretical mechanics.

The academic seminar entitled “Contemporary Problems of Engineering Sciences and Their Solutions” was held on the same day.

The section entitled “Sustainable Development of Inhabited Localities” was moderated by Andrei Rymarov, Director of the Chair for Heat/Gas Supply and Ventilation; the “Concretes, Gypsum Construction Materials” Section was moderated by Alexander Buryanov, Professor, Department of Binding Materials and Concretes; the “Information Technologies in Civil Engineering” Section was moderated by Elena Ignatova, leading expert, Department of Licensing and Accrediting.

 

Reports were delivered by each section of the Academic Seminar. For example, N.A. Galtseva, Director of Laboratory, Prof. A.F. Buryanov, NRU MGSU, Prof. Dr.-Ing H.-B. Fischer, Bauhaus University Weimar, spoke about effective backfill blends made of synthetic gypsum plaster; Associate professor N.V. Knyazeva spoke about the information support of operating management in the construction industry.

The festive occasion, dedicated to the celebration of the cooperation anniversary, was held in the Academic Council Hall on October 06, 2017.

Prof., D.Sc. Andrey Volkov, Rector, NRU MGSU, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Winfried Speitkamp, President, Bauhaus University Weimar, Prof., D.Sc. Valery Telichenko, President, NRU MGSU, Dr. Peter Hiller, Director, DAAD Regional Office in Moscow, Marina Pimenova, personal assistant, Department of Science and Academic Research, Embassy of Germany in Moscow, Russia, Dr. Wilma Rethage, Director, DFG Office Russia, Guzel Shaikhullina, Director, Thuringia International contact bureau made their welcoming addresses.

Special guests, including Fedor Zhikharev and Dr.-Ing Heiko Eckhardt Kirschke, briefly informed the audience about the history of cooperation between the two universities. Brief addresses were made by the employees and students of the two universities.

Commemorative medals were awarded at the end of the event. Fifty years have passed since the initiation of this prolific cooperation. Gypsum medals saying “1967 - 2017” were awarded to those employees of Bauhaus University Weimar and National Research Moscow State University of Civil Engineering who made their proactive contribution to the implementation and development of this cooperation.

While in Moscow, the guests visited the Bolshoi Theatre and made an unforgettable tour of the most interesting sites of the city.

The event has consolidated the professional union of the two universities and opened up new horizons for further joint projects.
