The winter school “Kolomna: Urban Reconstruction Challenge in Ancient Russian Town Context” was held at Moscow State University of Civil Engineering
During the two-week course, in addition to the main program, students were given the opportunity to attend classes in Russian language and get acquainted with University, Moscow and Kolomna, as well as with Russian culture.

During the first weekend, participants, accompanied by the assistant professor of the Department of Architecture Nikolay Vasiliev, visited Kolomna, where they met with the city’s specialists in the field of urban planning, with representatives of the Moscow Region Architecture and Urban Planning Committee and get acquainted with the latest developments and planned activities in the field of urban development, restoration of cultural heritage and tourism in Kolomna, as well as to study the General Plan of the city and plans for Bureau of Technical Inventory projects.
                                                                             
After arrival back in Moscow, students visited social center called "Platform", which deals with the development of small towns.
As part of the program, participants of the winter school completed all lectures necessary to obtain a certificate of completion. 

The program included the following lectures:
  • Russian language classes, under the guidance of associate professors of the Russian language Department, Elena Cherkashina, Elena Kazakova, Natalia Tyupenko and senior teacher of the Russian language Department Evgenia Skorik;
  • “Preservation of Heritage: Historical and Social Context”, under the guidance of Associate Professor of “Architecture” Department Nikolay Vasiliev;
  • “The Russian historical landscape in the modern city-planning process”, under the guidance of associate professor of “Urban planning” Department Elena Zaykova;
  • Practice "Design Workshop", under the guidance of associate professor of "Architecture" Department Nikolay Vasiliev and senior teacher of "Architecture" Department Ivan Saltykov;
  • Presentation “Problems of reconstruction of red brick and concrete”, under the guidance of the senior lecturer of “Architecture” Department Ivan Saltykov;
  • “The All-Russian Society for the Protection of Monuments of History and Culture”, under the guidance of Associate Professor of “Architecture” Department Nikolay Vasiliev.
On weekends from February 15 to 16, school participants visited the exhibition “Art of the 20th Century” in Tretyakov Gallery, and, in addition, together with associate professor Nikolay Vasiliev took part in excursions around the historical places in Moscow.

According to the results of winter school, the participants presented a project "Proposal for the reconstruction of the working settlement of Levashov", and after successful protection received certificates.
