A DELEGATION FROM THE WROCLAW UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY VISITS NRU MGSU
A delegation of the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology visited NRU MGSU October 16, 2018. The foreign guests met with the top executives of NRU MGSU and took a tour of its premises, including academic and laboratory buildings.
At the meeting, NRU MGSU was represented by Andrey Anatolyevich Volkov, Rector, Elena Sergeyevna Gogina, Vice-rector, Nadezhda Dmitriyevna Cherednichenko, Director, Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Natalia Vladimirovna Samotesova, Head of Department for Coordination of International Cooperation, and Kristina Yuryevna Okhotnikova, Head of Department of Development and Organization of International Cooperation.
The Wroclaw University of Science and Technology is a major university in Poland. A the meeting, it was represented by Cezary Madryas, Rector, Andrzej Moczko, Director, Department of International Cooperation, and Tadeusz Więckowski, professor and ex-rector of the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (2008 – 2016).
The rector of NRU MGSU briefed the Polish colleagues about the university, its great history and current events. He mentioned that NRU MGSU was among few Russian universities that had been awarded the status of national research universities. NRU MGSU maintains a new systemic and interdisciplinary vision of civil engineering and living environments. Besides, Andrey Anatolyevich Volkov said: “Civil engineering is a conservative industry; however, we’d like to get a glimpse of the future. That’s why we develop not only the “civil engineering discipline”, but also the “civil engineering plus…” disciplines. Altogether, they cover the complete life cycle of buildings and structures.”
The rector of the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology expressed his appreciation for the presentation and showed a brief video of the Polish university, its past and future, and its cooperation with major companies, including IBM, Volvo, and Microsoft. Cezary Madryas expressed willingness to cooperate with the Russian colleagues. He said that in the past his university had had numerous foreign partners, but later its policy changed and the pool of the top priority partners was limited to the best foreign institutions of higher education, including NRU MGSU.
The meeting attendees drew attention to the importance of international cooperation and the benefits of academic exchange programmes, joint research projects, and internships. After the meeting, the foreign guests took a tour of the university.
